Corner Sofa Guide

Ask ten people which kind of sofa they find the most appealing, and at least half of them will probably tell you they like corner sofas.  Such is the popularity of sectional furniture these days that we might forget there was a time when sofa choices were limited to separate sofas and loveseats.  These days, we have choices- too many choices for some, it would seem, as the sheer variety of design can make it hard to choose the right corner sofa (or whether to even get a sectional sofa).  This guide seeks to help relieve that burden somewhat by discussing the different choices you have and what makes sectional sofas special, including some things that may not be so obvious at first glance.

What to Take into Consideration

Besides personal preference, one good reason to get a corner sofa is because a lot of them make excellent sleeper sofas. The backs of corner sofas often consist of large, removable pillows. Take them off and what have you got? A very wide area that can be used for sleeping, with no awkward, uncomfortable metal frame to deal with! A leather corner sofa bed could be very comfy indeed, and full grain leather can guarantee that the upholstery will last long. This could apply as well to a small corner sofa as it does to a large one, though a large corner sofa offers the possibility of sleeping more people. If this is your desire, get a corner sofa unit that doesn't have armrests, consoles, etc. to break up the seating surface of the sofa, which will double as a sleeping surface. We already mentioned leather, and just like with normal sofas, you have the choice of fabric or leather upholstery here. Both can look really great and modern. For those who love leather, corner sofas can be great for showing it off because the leather can cover a long, uninterrupted surface. Contemporary corner sofa designs can make great use of leather and suede to create sumptuous surfaces that can wow guests. A fabric corner sofa tends to be more understated and the right colors can create a living room space that looks fresh or cozy and warm. As mentioned, full grain leather is the best choice for leather sofas due to its good looks and durability. You are somewhat unlikely to find really cheap corner sofas unless you happen upon a corner sofa sale. However, if you want your sofa to last and expect it to do double duty as a sofa and a bed on occasion, getting quality is a good idea.
