The Asian Babe: Myths and Fact

Beginning as far back as Western contact with eastern Asia, and exploding with the advent of first military incursions into Asia by America and Europe and more recently the economic rise of Asian powers like China and Japan, the Asian babe has held the rapt attention of more than a few caucasians (and those of other races, too).  As the internet grew and spread, erasing barriers between peoples, so have the women of the orient gained popularity and interest.  Once it was only lucky few, men such as Commodore Perry, who had the opportunity to actually get up close and personal with the women of asia.  Today, it is possible for any commoner to establish contact.  As such, a smorgasbord of websites, stereotypes, and even lingo (especially lingo) has popped up around these otherwise normal women, normal to their own countrymen, at least (the use of the word "normal" does not insinuate "easy" when it comes to inter-gender relationships).

Some of the stereotypes that have developed are that Asian women are hard to understand, are subservient, are very willing to please a man in bed, will always do what he says, is obedient, etc.  Notice that these can basically be summed up in two qualities: obedient, and amorous.  Mixed up, you could say it's "sexually obedient."
Now, that's certainly a big dimension of what non-asians like about asian women, but to say that that's the only thing would be inaccurate.  Many men from the United States and Europe have a kind of "Once you go Asian, you'll ditch the Caucasian" mentality after spending some time in places like Shanghai or most cities in Japan, giving rise to degrading monikers like "rice king", "yellow fever", "into the bamboo", and the like.  When asked why they swear they will never date a woman from their own country again, the give reasons such as "American women don't know how to be a woman anymore, they're all about standing up for their rights as equals and stuff.  And that's fine, but it's like they want to be the same as men or something.  Asian women aren't weak, they aren't servile, but they still know how to be a woman, they've still got their femininity intact.  It's like women in America have forgotten their feminine side and care more about getting the same treatment a man would get."
Of course, this sentiment cannot apply to all, or even most, American women, but it is one that is echoed by many men.  And it is very possible that this idea arises from the first impressions of the observer.  Going past the surface, things may be and often are very different.  However, it does seem that culture is a big factor, beyond looks, that has a great influence on non-asians' preferences for the Asian Babe.  Because traditionally, asian culture has favored males in a way that was far more drastic than the model for gender roles assigned in western cultures.  Besides giving men the role of providing for and protecting the family, and placing women in the home, men in Asian cultures in the far East (again, China, Korea)  Japan) were actually assumed to be BETTER than women.  Better as in, their lives were worth more.  This tenet of the culture gave rise to a world in which women existed for men, and there were many disciplinary methods in place to keep it this way.  Culture dies hard, whether it's the parts that are viewed as "good" or "bad".  And Asian values traditionally emphasize wealth and living a comfortable life over love.  You can't deny that many asian women will marry for a better life, especially if they come from a poorer country like most of China, Thailand, the Phillipines, etc.  And few people would believe that a lot of western men don't have an asian fetish.  But neither can you deny that some couples are together for love.  Part of it may just be that interracial couples are so visible, you may see 100 couples on the street and then see an interracial one and only remember that one.  In any event, fetishes are not enough to go on for a real relationship, and the truth will soon out.  Nor will all men be unconscious of the fact that their wives married them for their money rather than in the name of love.  As in marriages between people of any (including the same) race, these things will be decided within the relationship.  And for those who think an asian woman will do anything the man asks, quietly, without asking anything for herself… look out!  For people are people, and men looking for a plaything may be surprised that asian babes, too have a will… often a strong one, at that.   

In the meantime, what we know as scientific fact is that genetic diversity is viewed as desirable, generally yielding healthier organisms.  If a union between an asian babe and a non-asian man is a popular way of bringing about this diversity, then so be it.  Our race is not fixed, what we see as chinese, japanese, white, black, etc. is the product of of genetic mixing as old as humanity itself.  Who knows what we will look like in the years to come.
So to sum up about the "Asian Babe", she is a creature exotic to those unfamiliar.  She has some differing values from the girl from back home, which some may find attractive and others may not.  But the important thing to remember is that she is just a woman…  with all that entails.
